On peut faire beaucoup de ski en utilisant très peu les remontées mécaniques.

Not for the beginners, old lifts, drug lift in the village is old terrible and belongs to the museum. People fall from it all the time.

  • Historic village, very quiet
  • Marked as lots of blue runs, in reality they are RED, not good for beginners at all

A bit to small. Lots of ques and the skischools is allowed to pass so it can take an hour to get in the lift. After ski is not existing and Rauris dont even have a bar to grab a beer. Can't recommend anyone to go here. The pists is very good prepared do.

  • Good for the family when it's not so big
  • One hour to come up in the morning.

Just spent a 1/2 day at Rauris and it was mostly fun. I'm a good intermediate with a knee issue. The resort is small but very popular with beginners, lots of ski school uniforms on the mountain. The blues were tending to mogul my midday both the long black from midstation down was quiet and exciting in places. I had a terrible time on the high t-bar, it's got an unusual mounting system where you have to push down a lever to get onto the t-bar. I wish I'd never pushed the lever. I couldn't find a secure balance point, I kept drifting off track and had to hold on for dear life several times on long steep ascent. It's too narrow and the pitch of the wire is too steep, once on there are very few places you can safely bail out and if you do there is no easy way back to a piste. By the time I reached the top my right arm and leg were both exhausted. Recommend you avoid it and use the white gondola which actually goes higher. The link to skilines is a bit weird too but that's less important than the risk of injury on the t-bar.

  • Lots of long blues, should suit novice skiers.
  • Too many novice skiers. Terrible T-bar

Nice Spot!

My 1st 'proper' Skiing holiday for 11 years since starting family. Just me & my 10 year old son on his 1st ski holiday, so wanted a resort where I could meet up at lunchtimes and 'see' him on the slopes. Rauris was perfect for this as we both enjoyed our own ski lessons but managed to 'bump' into each other during the day ;-) The village is relatively small and has safe feel to it. (No drunks, just lots of families) Ski bus service was great, although it was only a ten min walk to the slopes from the village center. The number of runs is quite limited but I never got bored, and I have Skied much bigger resorts in the past. I would say if you want to travel miles & miles on new runs then Rauris is not for you , but if you are returning from Skiing after and absence, are a beginner, or intermediate who enjoys quiet small resorts then you cannot better Rauris. We never queued once for the lifts but that may have been the time when we were there although , I got the impression it never gets too busy. We used Ski school Meir and it was very professional; as a advanced intermediate (I can Ski blacks) we never got bored as the day was split into 2 , Morning was techniques then Afternoon was applying the techniques we had learnt by doing lots of runs , slalom etc. Overall a great place for the family, in fact I am intending to return next year with all the family

  • Family friendly, good value, unspoilt, compact ski area
  • Limited number of runs

We have just returned from Rauris - a compact resort where everything is easily accessible. Only 1 1/2 hr transfer by coach from Salzburg, and with good transport links to other resorts (e.g.Zell am See 50 mins by bus). We went as beginner snowboarders (previously skiers) and although we'd only done abit indoors at Snozone the instructors moved us up a group so we got the most out of our week. The Karl Maier ski school is great - it's so family friendly aswell. What also appealed to us as boarders was that we only stepped into gondolas the entire week to access the slopes. If you're a real snow hound and need fast reds and blacks perhaps you might get bored of this resort - but it was perfect for us. Rauris is a typical pretty Austrian town, and all the locals are pleased to see you. Nightlife is mainly in the bars in hotels or a few bars in town - not pumping, but pretty cheap and relaxed for a few drinks. We also went to the Tauern Spa in Kaprun (Opened Nov 2010) on our last day which i can not recommend enough - incredible. We stayed in the Hotel Kristall - good food, 1st stop on the ski bus and sauna was a godsend !

  • Good Ski School,Friendly People, Access to Slopes
  • Might not be "kicking" enough for some
