We came here as the mountain is famous for Burke Mountain Academy, but other than the race trails which were fenced off the skiing was not very good. Lots of potential but who ever owns the mountain is probably not a skier. The town of East Burke was fairly run down compared to other ski towns in Vermont. We usually ski at Okemo and Stowe, thought we would give Burke a try, but I doubt we'll be back. ... Avis complet

Been coming here for years and our family has loved the location, atmosphere and terrain. My two teenage sons were physically assualted here today.... right in front of main lodge. The senior management was incompetent in response despite eye witness accounts and was only interested once we initiated response with state police. To the father that apparently initiated....u r a coward!... Avis complet

Keep in mind that Burke Ski Academy has more Olympic skiers then any other ski school in the US. Nice new mid base hotel that amazing deals. As long as they have the snow I will drive right past the other VT mountains and hit it again ... Avis complet

Purchased a ticket on their website prior to going. It was windy and none of the lifts were open so they said via phone no problem we will refund you. Of course they did not follow through on this and I am out $60. Then I tried calling back and was hung up on! Terrible!... Avis complet

Came on a mid-week powder day. Pleasantly surprised by the amount and variety of terrain on the upper mountain. Very little trail redundancy, as each had unique characteristics. Tree fields reminded me of Jay. Favorite runs: power line ... Avis complet

When there is natural snow like now, this place is awesome. The glades, both marked and unmarked, are top 3 in the East. And even on weekends you get the place to yourself.... Avis complet

Went to Burke this past Saturday in warm spring-like conditions. This is after having spent the previous day at Jay Peak. Was amazed by the conditions despite the warm weather. Not much of the mountain was open, but what was there was great. Steep, fast, wide trails, long vertical. Fast lifts. Definitely a skiers mountain. Like how the beginners section and lift is separated from the rest. Will definitely be back and would actually choose Burke over Jay Peak any day. Great for laps and staff was also very nice. Also fun to see some amazing skiers from the Mountain Academy. ... Avis complet

My sentiments on leaving Burke were plain sad. This could be a very nice family mountain. The other reviews (albeit 5 years old) suggest it was at one time. Unfortunately, our experience was severely disappointing. We know the pitfalls of Xmas skiing on the East coast. The weather doesn't always cooperate. On this occasion there had been some rain a few days before and many mountains in Vermont were recovering from that. But Burke was by far the worst affected and they had a mere 9 out of 50 trails open on Jan 2 when we went. Whether you measure by % of trails or % of terrain this was by some distance the worst of any Vermont mountain. On their upper mountain (where all the intermediate and advanced terrain is), there was basically only 1 route down the mountain open. We had planned to spend 2 days at Burke (and bought tickets in advance). But there was clearly no way we could spend 2 days skiing 1 trail down! So we asked to speak to the Manager to ask if he could refund our second day. We initially were put through to the General Manager who was quite understanding and said he would see what we could do. He promised to meet us the following morning. He never showed up. Instead, we got to speak with the co-owner, Ary Quiros . We patiently explained the situation to him and in particular asked why there were so few trails opened. In response, he told us the following. He and his partner had purchased Burke and found their snow-making equipment was archaic - from the seventies. They had made a large investment and their priority was to build a hotel to "try and develop a customer base". As a result, they had no planned new investment for the ski resort. We were totally shocked by this response. Firstly, Mr. Quiros seemed to have no interest in the ski mountain at all. Secondly, what he said was totally at odds with Burke's website, which joyfully depicts their extensive snowmaking equipment and beautifully groomed slopes. I responded to Mr Quiros that the best way to develop a customer base was to ensure the skiing experience was as good as possible. After all, nobody is going to come to a hotel in Northern Vermont in winter to hang out by the pool ... Burke has some interesting terrain, but it is poorly looked after and the attitude of the owner simply stinks. I would stay away until there is clear evidence that the ski mountain becomes the priority. ... Avis complet

Burke is putting in a High Speed Summit Quad! I visited Burke this past weekend during a beautiful clear sunny day and drove up the Toll Road. Near the top of the ascent, the road crisscrosses the new lift line. The footings of the new lift towers were being installed and the area for the summit terminal had been cleared and prepped. I went back down the mountain and went over to the Mid-Lodge where a crew from Leitner-POMA was working on concrete forms. The base of the new lift is just below the Mid-Lodge where part of the parking lot used to be. It runs up the mountain roughly parallel to the old POMA surface lift and ends at the summit just above the old Willoughby Quad. Word is the new lift will take half the time of the old lift (or roughly 7 minutes) to get to the top! The new lift line looks like it will be very fun to ski as it will likely be intermediate for the top 1/3rd and Expert for the lower 2/3rds. ... Avis complet
