Just at camelback this past weekend to snow tube. Nobody was social distancing they let way too many people at the top. Way overcrowded very disappointed ... Avis complet
Overall disappointed. I have never been to a ski resort where you have to pay for all day parking and the lift lines were outrageous. Only silver lining was that they had nice outdoor seating at their restaurants.
In terms of the mountain, everything was scaled up. Blues should be greens, double blacks should be blacks etc.
My main complaints were their COVID protocols WHICH WERE NONEXISTENT.
I have been to a couple of ski resorts in the area this year. Every resort had enhanced sanitizing stations throughout the resort, easily accessible maps, even one way markers inside the lodge for rentals etc. and of course a mask policy that was enforced to make everyone feel safe.
Camelback resort had not a SINGLE bottle of hand sanitizer in the lodges or common areas, no digital maps, no one way markers and let me tell you about how they weren't enforcing masks..
I'd say half the people in the EXTREMELY long lift lines had masks on. Most other had a piece of cloth that could cover their face if a ski patrol member were to walk by but would disappear once they walked past. The employees loading the lifts and managing crowds DIDN'T SAY A WORD TO ANYONE about masks. I had expected to see more passes pulled for this but it didn't seem like anyone cared. I was so enraged I started calling people out in the lodge for not wearing them. It's a procedure to keep everyone safe yet it seemed like everyone treated it as a vacation where they didn't have to worry. And there was no staff enforcing. Don't waste your money or your safety..... Avis complet
After a banner season with tons of natural snow, you would expect decent conditions. Not so. They pack down the snow so hard that it feels like concrete with no powder left to dig into, and God help you if you fall. They used to have good grooming before the new owners took over but now they haven't got a clue or they simply don't care. ... I live in Northern NJ. Camelback used to be my home slope for many years, but not anymore. Here is why:
Camelback has a prime parking close to the mountain that was always paid and a general parking that s somewhat farther, which was free.
This season I parked at the general parking as usual and I saw the sign that general parking is now paid. Directions at the sign said to go to the website and pay online. Well, that was upsetting, but I followed instructions to pay, thinking that the amount would be reasonable. The app, however told me that general parking at Camelback is now $30 (thirty dollars!!!). Adult weekday lift ticket costs $60, and charging 50% of that amount for parking is simply insane. I understand that COVID hit the business with additional expenses, but charging a 50% on top of lift ticket via the backdoor scheme is the utmost greed that should not be rewarded. I asked a Camelback staff member about the charge and he said "Parking is managed by a separate company, we have nothing to do with that". So let me get it straight. Camelback likely pays half of the parking charge to the other company that now collects parking fees. Camelback could have said "Look guys, the business is hurting because of COVID and we are forced to raise lift tickets by $15". Instead, they've decided to charge the hidden fee of $30 and waste half of that on hiring a parking fee processing company. An unsuspected skier who purchases a lift ticket online now faces a dilemma at Camelback mountain – cough up additional $30 or turn back. What Camelback did is an utmost greed and stupidity and this behavior should not be rewarded. I've never been to another mountain that charges for parking, let alone 50% of the lift ticket.
I’m never going back to Camelback. I choose to drive an extra 30 minutes to another mountain (which is also bigger than Camelback) than let myself being robbed in the daylight.
RIP Camelback.... Avis complet
I took my husband and 2 girls. The bill was 350.00 with my supposed military discount. I thought it costs that much to ski because I do not go. He was outraged, because just lift tickets alone are supposed to be half during the week and they must not have given me that or any discount because it would have been cheaper if we would have done it online. And she gave me no receipt either, or I would have went back to get my money back. ... Avis complet
If you want to get overcharged in every way possible, Camelback is for you. They don't even honor vouchers if you show up on a busy day, finding a ridiculous excuse not to honor them. They have you trapped and will risk you walking away instead of paying for a service you should be getting complimentary. Stay away from this place, they've become heartless and greedy. I've been coming here since the 80's...never again.... Avis complet
This is hard to explain all my rage at this place. I will do it the best way I can. I learned to ski at Camelback 12/26/90. I bought mid week season passes for my family this year. It's such a waste. I am a teacher so it should workout...well the whole week after Christmas they had 8 trails open. The internet falsely reported 11. Obviously 8 trails despite 20" of free snow a week earlier is ABSOLUTELY terrible. My friend went there and actually drove away. We skied 4 days. I learned that they can only make snow on 3-4 trails or they run out of water. The nonsensical tubing park counts as a trail. They also will only open a trail with 36" of base, I guess they do not know they are in PA. Also, 8 trails is an improvement (they claim such wonderful things with the new snowguns intalled 2020). However they had 2 trails open Christmas week 2019.
I inexplicably left me skies on the mtn. NOBODY could possibly be reached and they hung up on me 25x. I am so sick of that stupid guy saying how great they are. Well they had my skiis, great I bought new ones for $900. Now I want to use Aquatopia, but I since I have season passes, they "are booked out." However, if I pay the full price on $99 per person, I could go. Nice benefit of being a season pass holder...discounted tix that you can not use and they just have another
reason to transfer you, code for hang up on...again. The mountain has hung up on me close to 50x.
They days I skied, the crowds were insane!!!!! Guys online were saying it's almost the cost of going to CO! Nobody has actually ever checked my 4 family lift tix, as NOBODY YOU EVER TALK TO KNOWS ANYTHING about skiing! Well, Security, is informed but has to follow stupid orders from the "new management." This has all been so stupid it hurts. Now I am going up 2/17 and here about parking. I get free parking with the passes, can I register my vehicle anywhere??? Can I call anyone??? BTW Guest services has 10-20 ppl doing something....but is beyond useless (printing season passes with no pics).
Bottom line is I am glad I do not have a house nearby, and married to the mountain. You actually would lose your mind! I am embarrassed, as I explained to my kids that season passes are a legit dream of mine, now it's come true, and it atrocious...kids don't want to even go. They get it sucks, waiting for 4 servers standing behind 2 servers actually doing work, while 1 person checks you out....or how absurd it is for the main waffle house not to have waffles defrosted at Noon. I was supposed to have an epic year of skiing with my kids on pretty good terrain close by. Well they still have trails closed and a lift has an "electrical issue" and is closed. I will go tomorrow for 3 days, if I do not update than it was all so stupid. I have wasted my $, my time at the mtn, and a year of my kids lives going to a place run by clowns. Blue Mtn. looks to be the go to in PA. I regret not getting passes at SHawnee as they actually had 18 trails open after Christmas.
Until these horrific reviews stop and some good ones show up, you are a simply asking for punishment. Incidently the Day tix are over $90 for this week and parking is $30-40. SHOCKING! I bet I ski 1 or 2 days out of 3.... Avis complet
The main reason I'm writing a review are their shameless fees on parking ($30) and lockers ($25) after they already overcharge you on the lift ticket ($95 holiday) for what is a very mediocre ski area. One has to wonder what they do with all that money. They certainly aren't investing it in developing the lifts, most of which are old slow 2-seaters that take forever to get through the lines and to the top.
There's definitely potential here to make a great resort for families and beginners, and even more advanced skiers, but right now it just feels like a violation when you pay this much for this old equipment.... Avis complet
Very frustrating experience, because I liked all of the runs and the conditions were very good, but the lines at every lift were infuriating.
The lifts are old, slow and most are two seaters. Add to the fact that most lifts don’t have someone to traffic the skiers in an orderly fashion and you end up with problems. Also the lifts are CONSTANTLY stopping. It’s an easy fix if the resort put in the effort to get people off at the top cleanly and quickly. Instead they keep a very thin staff and just let the beginners ruin everyone’s experience with lousy lift exits at the top ... Avis complet
This was our first time skiing at Camelback and I wish I had seen these reviews first. We have skied at other places during covid and I was shocked at what I saw at Camelback. I would estimate that 50% of people were not wearing a facecovering. No enforcement at all (although loud speaker tells people to wear a mask). Like others say, 20% of employees in lift areas also not covering nose or not wearing a face masks. No social distancing in lift lines with lines right next to each other and long waits. Other areas I've been too had an empty line between two open lines. No way are they limiting capacity either - based on parking lot and people parking on streets because no spots. We did not feel safe.... Avis complet
