Leider gibt es nur Snow Deal Tickets zu kaufen. Die sind viel zu teuer, wenn man sowieso ab 2 Uebernachtungen im Hotel die Tageskarten für 45 Fr. bekommt.

Exzellentes Skigebiet mit bestens präparierten Pisten. Ja, St. Moritz ist teuer, wenn man im Sternerestaurant übernachtet und im exklusiven Hotel übernachtet. Aber auf der Piste gibt es auch preiswerte Hütten und die Ferienwohnungen haben auch Europreise für EU-Kunden

Wer nach St. Moritz kommt, sollte auf jeden Fall das nötige Kleingeld bereithalten. Hier gilt das berühmte Stichwort: Ohne Moos nix los. Das Skigebiet selbst hat zwar einiges zu bieten, allerdings ist mir das Drumherum leider etwas zu viel.

Ich war insgesamt etwas enttäuscht von St. Moritz, der Ort selbst hat mir gar nicht gefallen. Es gibt zwar viele alte und große Hotels mit viel Tradition, aber ich fand es nicht so angenehm, die Atmosphäre natürlich sehr aufs Sehen und Gesehen werden aus und nicht so rrichtig entspannend. Das St. Moritz superteuer ist, ist kein Geheimnis. In den Hotels herrscht totaler Luxus - wenn man genug Kohle hat. Das Skigebiet selbst hat mich als KEnner von Kitzbühel, Zermatt, Davos oder anderen Gebieten nicht vom Hocher gehauen. Allerdings haben wir auch nicht alle Möglichkeiten der Region abfahren können. waren zum Beispiel nicht am Piz Nair, war leider gesperrt. Liftanlagen sind natürlich top, Service hat mir auch sehr imponiert - bei den Preisen muss das aber auch so sein finde ich. Unsere Hütte war leider nicht so toll, Essen war mittelmäßig, aber da gibt es bestimmt noch viele bessere im Gebiet.

I've known about St Moritz ever since I started skiing of course, probably longer. The image is of glitz and glamour of course and you can walk past the big hotels and gawp at the super rich that are there as if you are looking at Buckingham Palace or the Vatican. But wjhen I gort there (By a fantastic rail journey) I realised I had this 'image' so much in my head than I didn't think about this being 99% a regular ski resort, and as it turned out a really good one. I like the long ski history of the place, or rather the long history of being crazy about snow and ice sports - right back to the 1860s. The whole history of winter sports dates back to St Moritz, so it is a kind of place of pilgrimage. OK it was only the rich who could afford it for the first few decades, and even now being rich helps, but still you can sense that love of the snow when you're there. I guess the anonymous reviewer in Jan 07 visited when the whole Alps had their much publicised "Bad winter" when the newspapers said "This is the end of skiing in the Alps, no more snow." When I went the snow was fantastic. I am not a big off opisate powder fan, although there was plenty of that, I just enjoyed crusing down the fast blue Princess run over and over. Away from the swanky restaurants we found prices were in line with the rest of the Alps in shops, restaurants and hotels.

Zermatt - San Moritz no votesby Anonymous | January 11th, 2007 01:36 AM I just came back on tuesday from 12 days in San Moritz. Basically I am told the conditions there are the best in the country. This is probably due to the fact that San Moritz spends a lot of money making snow and grooming etc. Note this is not a big mountain, nothing like Zermatt with endless runs and amazing terrain. Here is what I exprerienced. Around Dec. 30-Jan1, hard ice, not very pleasant but bareable if you are into east coast ice conditions it was marginally ok. Jan 1-3 it snowed and the runs were much better, evenetually around Jan 5th it snowed a lot more, I heard about a lot of snow is some areas of Switzerland, up to 1 meter etc. Dont know if this is true but we got around 30-40 cm, plus it snowed a bit more on and off. I ended up sking around 15 inches of powder just off the marked runs, dangerous since the base is very limited and hard, with some large rocks covered with fresh powder, but overall was very nice. The runs were good to excellant. In addition I skied a double diamond, off piste run, "Von Olmound" was very nice considering, only a few rocks which I managed to avoid. Heavy choped, packed powder 30 + cm deep. Finally on Jan 7 the weather was sunny and the slopes were free of tourists, like me. Basically this was a day in heaven, runs were fast, well packed snow and it was a bit warm, basically spring skiing with snow, the best day of my trip. So was the 8th but I didnt want to spoil the highlight due to fog and 50/50 wether conditions and went cross country skating, fell on my ass a bit but it was fun. So I can tell you that typically San Moritz is fair to great depending on if you get some snow. By now if they have no new snow its probaly a bit skied out but overall not terrible. I would head there, again they seem to always make enough snow to get by, in my 8 years there over the Holidays Ive seen worse. Overall I was lucky, since I stayed after the crowds and it snowed.
